  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon water
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Fresh pineapple chunks (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper until blended.
  3. Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and optional pineapple juice. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce.
  7. Toss baked meatballs in the sweet and sour sauce before serving.
