  • 2 tbsps Dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 11 1/2 tsp red gel food coloring
  • 3/4 cup chopped white chocolate or white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about two minutes).
  4. Add egg yolks, vanilla extract, and red gel food coloring; mix until well blended.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chopped white chocolate or chips.
  7. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets about two inches apart (aim for eighteen cookies).
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until soft in the center.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for five minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
