  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, mix pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter or vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Pour this into the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  4. Transfer the batter to an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour very hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the center is set. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
