6 day-old croissants
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups whole milk or almond/oat milk
4 large eggs or flax eggs for vegan option
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional: powdered sugar and fresh berries for serving
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
Cut each croissant into halves or quarters and layer half in a baking dish. Sprinkle half of the chocolate chips over the croissants. Repeat with the remaining croissants and chocolate chips.
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered croissants and let it sit for about 10 minutes for absorption.
Bake for approximately 50 minutes, or until set in the center and golden brown on top.
Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving warm with fresh berries.
