  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar until combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool completely.
  5. Whip the cream until soft peaks form; sweeten if desired.
  6. Assemble the cake: layer one chocolate cake with half the whipped cream and cherries, then top with the second layer. Finish with remaining whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
