  • 1/2 cup cold butter (or vegan butter)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, sea salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles small peas.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined.
  5. Shape dough into a circle about 3/4 inch thick on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush with milk and sprinkle sugar on top.
  7. Cut into wedges and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Optionally prepare icing by whisking powdered sugar with melted butter and maple syrup.
