  • 12 oz ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 8 oz lo mein or fettuccine noodles
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water

Instructions

  1. Season the steak with salt and black pepper; let it rest for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Boil water in a pot and cook noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water before draining.
  3. In a hot skillet, sear the steak for about 3–4 minutes per side; remove and let rest.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil; simmer for one minute.
  6. Add cooked noodles to the skillet; toss to coat in the sauce, using reserved pasta water as needed.
  7. Slice rested steak thinly against the grain and serve it over noodles.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs and red pepper flakes if desired.
