- 12 oz ribeye or sirloin steak
- 8 oz lo mein or fettuccine noodles
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or cilantro
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
- Season the steak with salt and black pepper; let it rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Boil water in a pot and cook noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta water before draining.
- In a hot skillet, sear the steak for about 3–4 minutes per side; remove and let rest.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add minced garlic, and cook until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil; simmer for one minute.
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet; toss to coat in the sauce, using reserved pasta water as needed.
- Slice rested steak thinly against the grain and serve it over noodles.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and red pepper flakes if desired.
