  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant. Add carrots and celery; cook until softened.
  4. Return chicken to the skillet with peas and sprinkle flour over the mixture. Stir to coat evenly.
  5. Gradually add chicken broth and milk, stirring continuously until thickened. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Add orzo pasta along with thyme and rosemary; cook until orzo is tender.
  7. Pour mixture into an oven-proof dish; roll out puff pastry over the top, sealing edges.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
