  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • Pink food coloring, a few drops
  • Blue food coloring, a few drops
  • Cotton candy flavoring (optional), adjust to taste
  • Sprinkles, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg along with vanilla and almond extracts until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Divide the dough in half: Color one half pink using food coloring and the other half blue.
  6. Form small balls by combining both colors together.
  7. Place colored dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie. Sprinkle optional decorations on top if desired.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for about 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft. Allow cooling before serving.
