  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 110g whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 20g softened butter
  • 3g dry yeast (or 9g fresh yeast)
  • 1 tablespoon orange jam
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 80g softened butter (for layering)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and yeast. Add egg, milk, vanilla, and orange jam; mix until smooth. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Incorporate sugar and salt; mix until absorbed. Rest another 10 minutes.
  3. Add softened butter and mix until smooth; refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. Roll into a rectangle (50cm x 30cm), spread softened butter over the surface, and fold into sections.
  5. Chill again for an hour, then roll out to a rectangle (20cm x 35cm) and cut into triangles.
  6. Shape each triangle into a cornetto and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush with beaten egg mixed with cream or milk, sprinkle with sugar, and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
